I do try to buy local, or we won't have them around anymore.  Anyone know a local vendor for composite motors? (Both above are great to work with; but haz-mat shipping is crazy, and getting worse.)

What vendors does everyone prefer to buy rocket motors from?  Asking for a friend...

Mention motor type (model rocket, high power, mfg, etc) and then vendor.

September 11 update.

MTMA will be doing some contest flying at the September launch similar to what we did at the August 2020 launch.  MTMA will be offering prizes like we did before.  The contest events are:

1/4A motor streamer duration (1/4A SD)
A motor parachute duration (A PD)
A motor helicopter duration (A HD)

The Estes Mini A Heli is perfect for the A HD event.  It's still available from A.C. Supply for 9 bucks.

I added another Community Model Rocket Launch and NRC contest for August 28 - good day to do some practice flying for September 11.

I attached the event rules, but the U.S. Model Rocket Sporting Code has precedence if I made any typos.  https://www.nar.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/USMRSC_July-2021.pdf

It seems like it will be a nice day tomorrow.  We'll be hosting a large pack of Cub Scouts and their families tomorrow morning from 10-12.  After that i think we will go until no later than 3:00.  As usual, I have to work Saturday late in the afternoon.

I don't know if we'll have time for the NRC stuff.  I don't even have any competition flight cards made up.

Put a dowel in the launch lug and attach the rail guide with a sheet metal screw.  I'll have to do it with one of my rockets that takes a 1/4" rod.

Launch buttons for rails are so easy to add to mid-power rockets like the ones in your collection.

Just a heads up. The sport range looks very tempting (500 acres) but has limited launch rods available. Everything is geared toward using rail buttons on your rockets including it seems the smaller birds. Any  rocket that flies on 29 mm motor or higher requires rail buttons. One of the reasons I opted not to make the 4 hour drive this year.
