Date

locked Launch this weekend moved to Sunday, October 9, 2016

Wolfram v.Kiparski

The Saturday Launch has been moved to Sunday, October 9, 2016.

Given the choice between "more windy" and "less windy," the lesser always wins.  Sunday is forecast to be less windy than Saturday.  Flying in breezes up to 15 mph is not fun, in my opinion.

See you Sunday!

I saw where the light drifted off to.  I think it landed in an overgrown lot just west of the house across the street.  I walked the yard at night and didn't see the Alpha's lights.

Did anyone happen to notice where my Maxi Alpha III crossed over the street last night?  Might it be in the vacant lot ?

I may take a ride out there today and have a look....

Any info appreciated

Looking at the work bench, I discovered that I grabbed (by accident) and loaded up a G-64 motor instead of the F-40!

It's been such a long spell not launching, I guess I didn't pick up on the differences.

Well, I guess I know that it flies OK on a G-64!  LOL.

Here is some important information about our upcoming Night Launch on Saturday, September 24, 2016:

Please read and familiarize yourself with the information on the following pages:
Some critical take-aways from those pages:
  • Continuous external illumination of rocket, visible from all sides, must be initiated prior to connecting the igniter leads.
  • Glow-in-the-dark paint or stickers CANNOT be the only source of illumination.
  • No "First Flights" after dark.
  • Additional $1 Night Launch Range Fee to offset additional club costs.
  • Spectators are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket--and make use of same.
  • MANDATORY Safety Meeting at 7:00 pm. If you come after this, I suggest you just stay in your vehicle.

!
We are a little over 48 hours from the start of the daylight portion of the launch and so far the weather is looking very favorable:
  • Following an afternoon high temperature in the low- to mid-70s, the temperature at 5:00 pm will only be a few degrees cooler. By sunset (7:20 pm), the temperature will be in the low- to mid-60s, falling into the upper 50s by our ending time of 11:00 pm.
  • Winds throughout the afternoon and evening will be from the NE at 5 gusting to 10 mph. I would expect a reduction in gusts after sunset.
  • Partly cloudy afternoon skies will become clear in the evening.
  • The waning crescent moon will not rise until well after midnight.

The official GO / No-Go announcement will be made tomorrow (Friday) evening.

Hope to see you all there!

A while back some one was touting some inexpensive audio beepers they found either on amazon or ebay. If you see this message could you tell me what to search for? Everything I have entered so far is turning up not relevant items....

Thx,
