Current field conditions: wet everywhere, and muddy where a lot of people walk around. Boots and long pants are strongly advised. Leave the shorts and sandals at home.

Yes, you may join us to fly. No, we still don't offer online membership - look for it sometime later this year. Prospective new MTMA members who can show NAR membership get their MTMA membership fee waived.

Go for Launch: Chagrin Falls Intermediate School - 5th Grade Rocketry Program
#go
We are “Go for Launch” with the 5th Graders from Chagrin Falls Intermediate School. The launch will take place tomorrow, Saturday, May 18 at 9:00 am, in the field behind the Chagrin Falls High School at 400 E Washington St, Chagrin Falls, OH, 44022. About 50 students will each launch their small model rocket up to three times. Past launches have generally been wrapped up in about two hours. We will set up at the field at 8:30 am using the school's six-position "saw horse" launch stand and controller. I would appreciate assistance from club members. Anyone who helps is encouraged to launch some larger demo rockets. The field is small, so low-flying rockets are best. The students have enjoyed "barely-enough powered" mid-power rockets and E-, F-, or G-powered saucers in the past. --Mark Recktenwald MTMA Treasurer

Chagrin Falls Intermediate School - Fifth Grade Rocketry Program (May 18, 2019)
The 5th Graders at Chagrin Falls Intermediate School will be holding their annual launch next Saturday, May 18 at 9:00 am. The launch will take place in the field behind the Chagrin Falls High School at 400 E Washington St, Chagrin Falls, OH, 44022. We will set up at the field at 8:30 am using the school's six-position "saw horse" launch stand and controller (built by Warren Farr). The two science teachers who run this program have been doing so for over 10 years. I have been helping Warren and the science teachers with this launch for a number of years, and several club members have stopped out to help and fly some larger demo rockets. The field is small, so low-flying rockets are best. The students have enjoyed "barely-enough powered" mid-power rockets and E-, F-, or G-powered saucers in the past. There will be about 50 students and each has the opportunity to fly their A- or B-powered rocket (mostly Baby Berthas and Wizards) three times. Build quality, rocket-eating trees, the random C-motor, and sports schedules generally limit the re-flights for many of the students. Past launches have generally been wrapped up in about two hours. This launch is GO unless the winds violate the Safety Code, there is torrential rain, or thunderstorms. Please consider spending a couple hours next Saturday morning paying forward. -- Mark Recktenwald MTMA Treasurer

Bill, As a general rule, the club sets up four small pads (three 1/8" rods and one 3/16" rod) and one big pad (changeable 1/4" rod and 1010 rail). The Aurora field only supports rocket launches under the Model Rocket Safety Code (up to G motor). Our launch system was made by Dog House Rocketry (prior to their sale to Binder Design). It is a 12-volt relay system that is "continuity-check safe" for low current igniters. The system consists of a central controller (positioned at the LCO table) that connects to up to three launch heads at each "cluster" of pads. Each launch head has four independent leads. Continuity can be checked by the rocketeer at the pad and/or by the LCO. -- Mark Recktenwald MTMA Treasurer
