Re: Launch Report for 7/28/2018
Here's my ESTES STM-10 from last year. I called Ohio Edison that day and reported it. They sent out a bucket truck later that night to clear the line. An RC RC plane club member held on to it and gave it back to me the next launch! Here are pictures from the first launch day and second after I got it back.

We were blessed with absolutely gorgeous weather for a launch. Although it was a bit breezier than we expected, it wasn't too bad and the temperature was that perfect not-too-hot-not-too-cool level that made it pleasant to sit out and launch rockets. We were happy to see many of you make it out, and we had a few visitors join us who were new to the hobby. Heck, I somehow managed to drag my 18 year-old son out to the field to watch and help retrieve rockets with his younger brother. Due to some elevated breezes early on in the launch, we started out with some low-flying, but crowd pleasing non-standard models. An estes snitch, a few Quin-stars, and even a 2-stage mini spool, courtesy of Pat Easter, who came out to fly with us. John Ulizzi did his part to smoke out any bugs in the area with several flights of his Rocketarium Vortico on F-26 and F-50 composite motors. Later on the wind relaxed a bit and some more conventional rockets started to make appearances. For the most part, all were successful flights, although some did have difficulties Such as a Cherokee 3 sustainer which suffered a broken fin after a somewhat tough landing. The only loss of the day came about when one of our guest's rockets, an Estes Crossfire, suffered a shock cord separation at ejection. The main rocket came down fairly easily even without the parachute, which had stayed attached to the nosecone. With the winds aloft being a bit brisk, we tracked the nosecone drifting through thermals as it floated away out of sight somewhere over Streetsboro. Maybe. It could still be aloft for all we know. All in all though, this was a successful launch, everyone had fun, and everyone was safe. We look forward to many more such launches this year. If anyone has any photos or videos from the launch that they would like to share, please forward them over and we will post them. Just as a reminder, our next launch will be August 11th (weather permitting of course) but will be a Cub Scout launch (around 30 kids). We will be starting with the cubs as early as possible to get them all done, and if there is time left over, we will be able to launch our own rockets. Thanks to those who have already volunteered to come out to assist with the 8/11 launch, and for the following launch on August 25th, which will be a dual Boy Scout Troop launch (approximatley 75 kids). We still need help for both launches, so if you can come and lend a hand, please let me know and I will add you to our list. Remember to always keep the pointy end up and we will see you all very soon! Jeff

Have a blast, gang!! We're holding mom's 70th birthday party today, so I won't be around. But having another year to enjoy with Mom is just as great as flying rockets on a beautiful day!!! -CG

The rocket gods are indeed smiling favorably upon us. This will be our second launch in a row. The weather will be absolutely gorgeous (75 degrees with 3-8 MPH winds). As always, the launch will be from 12 noon - 4 PM or until everyone's finished flying, whichever comes first. The field is at 619 Bartlett Rd, Aurora, Ohio (but you should have this pre-programmed into your GPS already) Remember, the next two launches (August 11th and August 25th) will be Boy / Cub scout launches and launch opportunities will be limited (but we still need volunteers for those days... hint, hint). Get your rockets, get your motors, get your hats and sunscreen, and get yourselves to the field and fly!!!! Jeff

Re: Scout Launches Update
John Berkey
Jeff, There is a chance I can help out on both the 11th and the 25th. Will have to let you know when it gets closer. Back on treatments and not sure how I'll feel until I get closer to these dates. Will be there if any way possible! John Berkey

From: Jeff Kodysz <jeffk813@...> To: MTMA <MTMA@groups.io> Sent: Tue, Jul 17, 2018 9:32 am Subject: [MTMA] Scout Launches Update Hi gang,
So far we've gotten some good responses from members willing to assist with the upcoming Cub / Boy Scout launches coming up in August, but we could really use some more. Right now we're looking better for the 11th launch than we are for the 25th. Some have been listed as "Possibly" for the 25th and I have you marked as such, but currently I have only one person marked as a definite for the 25th (other than myself). The launch on that day will be the larger of the two, having about 75 kids attending over the course of the day. If you haven't yet done so, and can possibly help out on one or both of those days, please let me know as soon as you can. Thanks to all who have volunteered to help so far! Also, the weather was great and we had a beautiful day for our launch this past weekend. We're all keeping our fingers crossed that we are just as fortunate for our next scheduled launch on Saturday, July 28th. We hope to see you there!!!! Jeff
