Wolfram v.Kiparski
What a deal.. Thanks for the heads up. $5 for a mid-power D-Region Tomahawk is hard to pass up. I wonder if these kits are due to be discontinued.

BP Issues
Andrew Kleinhenz <mrandrewlk@...>
From Pat Gordzelik:
I
contacted GOEX powder over a FFFG issue today. I told them that I had a can
that I sample tested and it burned very slowly. They conceded that there was one or two runs produced 3/11 that had been mis-packaged as FFFG when in effect the powder dispensed had a "significantly less" amount of accellerant than FFFG, and that it would effect bullet velocities if used in muzzle loaders, but the effects were nominal in rifle cartridge use due to higher pressure. I told him that I was not using FFFG for sporting firearms, and I could hear an "O, what ARE you using it in?" in his voice, so I merely shrugged it off as hobby rocket use. When I tested a teaspoon of this powder by setting it off with an electric match, it burned for 2 - 3 seconds. Obviously, this is a quite unacceptable burn rate in our rocketry hobby. I found out the hard way this last weekend, which is why I decided to test the burn rate this morning. I would advise that ya'll learn from my scar tissue and spread the word to your members that if they have any GOEX FFFG mfg 03/2011 to test burn a small portion. If it goes off in a flash, its a good run. If it does what mine did, don't use it for ejection charges. Take it from me, ballistic 80 lb Maxi Maggs with dual altimeters and 98mm motor hardware is not much fun. Gary Dickinson - President

NO GO for Sunday December 15, 2013
CG
The forecasts for tomorrow continues to not look good. Winds are forecast to be between 15 to 19 MPH (depending on which source you use) with gusts between 25-35 MPH. Not good for high power launches (unless you don't like to get your rockets back) ;-) Will shoot for two weeks from this weekend! -Cornelius -- -- - Cornelius Gould ________________________________ "The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them." - Albert Einstein (1879-1955)

No-Go For Launch Tomorrow, 12/14/2013
Saturday's forecast is calling for a low ceiling with clouds between 200 and 900 feet above the deck. That will make it unsafe to fly, so Saturday's launch is cancelled. Stay tuned for an update tomorrow on a possible Sunday launch, but the winds are still looking like they will be excessive.

This Weekend's Launch Weather Update
We have a launch scheduled for this weekend in Middlefield; however the snow in the forecast for Saturday will be accompanied by a very low ceiling (clouds at 200 to 400 feet), and Sunday will be a bit breezy (13 to 15, gusting to 24 mph). Stay tuned for further updates tomorrow and Saturday. -- Mark Recktenwald MTMA President

I am working all day and on emergency duty that evening. I can't guarantee that I could make it, but evening would be the only possibility for me.

Eric Hudnell
We are probably out either day then. Can't come tomorrow and don't feel like dealing with high winds on Saturday. Ugh.
After two aborts Falcon 9 just scrubed for the day too. So we will not see any launches this weekend. Not happy.
Hope some MTMA launches go off! Good luck!
